I knew this client and I were a good fit after talking for 5 minutes on the phone with her mother. They wanted a senior photo shoot right away before Spring set in when everything was in bloom. When her mother said "She like's the dead look" it made me sing with glee on the inside! I knew exactly what she meant! The abandoned houses, bare trees, rusty cars and forgotten towns. Things I find interesting and beautiful!
But when the day arrived for the shoot the freezing cold, high winds, and the sun right over head made me have doubts about how the session might go. With my truck's double cab full to the ceiling (literally) with props and clothes we had both brought I prepped her for how the shoot would progress. Telling her that it might take a little time before we were on the same page and things would easily flow and to not worry. I told her...oh her name is Alex by the way. I told Alex to stand over by the tree, which was near the abandoned house, on the property...ummm...that we were trespassing on. (They were all for the trespassing, I should add. I honestly was going to just have her stand near the road with the house in the background, but mom was more than all for it. Again I sang with glee on the inside.) As she stood by the tree I raised my camera to compose the photo. Took two shots and ...wow!...it was going to be a good day!
